Every 31 December, Paris celebrates the New Year with fireworks launched from the Arc de Triomphe. From the Hôtel R de Paris, a 4★ boutique hotel in the heart of the 9th arrondissement, you can easily reach the Champs-Élysées and enjoy this spectacular moment in the best conditions. Our team has gathered the latest official information here (times, access, transport, perimeter).
Before you go, always check the latest instructions (security, traffic) published by the Ville de Paris and the Préfecture de police. After the show, come back to the comfort of an elegant cocoon and, the next day, unwind in our wellness area.
Times & programme
Public access: from 19h on the Champs-Élysées (Étoile → Concorde). Countdown & fireworks: around midnight, after a light pre-show and the countdown on the Arc de Triomphe. The official programme runs until about 0h20. Source: Ville de Paris (updated 2025). Official details.
Access & perimeter on 31/12
Pedestrian access to the avenue is supervised and free. Filtering points with visual bag checks are in place; travel light and avoid bulky items. Precise perimeter information and restrictions (glass, takeaway alcohol, drones, fireworks) are published by the Préfecture de police before the evening. Check during the week of 31/12 (subject to confirmation). Orders & guidelines.
Metro & RER on the night of 31 → 1ᵉʳ
Early station closures around the avenue are announced to ease crowd flow: Champs-Élysées – Clemenceau and Franklin D. Roosevelt from 18h; Concorde and Tuileries from 20h (31/12/2025). To reach/leave the area, use more distant stations (George V, Alma-Marceau, Miromesnil, Madeleine, Saint-Philippe-du-Roule…) and walk. Full list & updates.
Extra service & free travel: according to Paris je t’aime (Tourist Office), public transport in Île-de-France (metro, bus, RER, Transilien) is free from 17h on 31/12/2025, with all-night service on metro lines 1, 2, 4, 6, 9, 14 (and RER/Transilien, service varies by station). Champs-Élysées New Year’s Eve info (free travel + station closures). For the updated list/map of all-night lines (and branch details), also check the official Île-de-France Mobilités “Nuit du 31 décembre” map.
Where to stand for the best view
- Arc de Triomphe (near Étoile): a head-on view of the Arc and the sky; arriving very early is recommended.
- George V → Franklin D. Roosevelt stretch: clear perspective on the Arc, with side areas to step away from the crowd.
- Towards Concorde: more space but a more distant view; check openings as the evening progresses.
Concierge tip: pick a fixed point (building, kiosk) as a meeting landmark and set a rendezvous point away from the flow for after the show.
Essential information to remember
- Concerts & shows on the avenue: cancelled for the evening of 31/12/2025 — only the fireworks and countdown remain. Official announcement.
- Official times: public access from 19h; finale around 0h20 (Ville de Paris). See the page.
- Where not to go: the Tourist Office advises against Trocadéro/Tour Eiffel if you want the full show (mapping + fireworks). Practical tip.
From Hôtel R de Paris: simple routes
Allow 20–30 min by metro + walking depending on crowds. Examples (adjust for closures): line 14 → Madeleine or Saint-Lazare then walk; line 9 → Miromesnil; line 1 → George V (if open). On the way back, choose a station farther from the avenue and wait a few minutes to avoid peak crowds.
