Every year, Christmas in Paris begins when the Galeries Lafayette windows light up on Boulevard Haussmann. For this exceptional 2025 edition, the department store entrusted its artistic creation to Jeanne Detallante, an internationally renowned illustrator whose vibrant and surreal world has already captivated the fashion houses of Prada, Carven, Hermès, and Miu Miu. From November 12, 2025, to January 4, 2026, her poetic and retro style will transform the store's facades into veritable animated works of art, bringing to life a vibrant Christmas where art, fantasy, and childhood become one.
This year, the theme "The Most Beautiful Gift" celebrates Santa's workshops, reimagined with elegance and ingenuity.
The window displays tell captivating stories: you'll discover Santa's office, designed like an aesthete's workshop; a large printing press working at full capacity to produce wrapping paper; and a sumptuous banquet with shimmering red moiré patterns. Childlike creatures like a baby elephant and a duck in boots wander through these vibrant compositions. Each scene is a window onto the imagination, blending meticulously crafted automata, soft lighting, and subtle music.The Giant 16-Meter Christmas Tree Under the Art Nouveau Dome
At the heart of the store, beneath the famous Art Nouveau dome, reigns the undisputed king of the Christmas season: a truly spectacular, monumental 16-meter-high Christmas tree. Adorned with original illustrations by Jeanne Detallante, it is wrapped like a sumptuous gift with over 560 kg of precious ribbons and 300 kg of exquisite fabrics. The magic intensifies thanks to 8 kilometers of sparkling LED garlands, transforming the Christmas tree into a cathedral of light. This year again, to celebrate Galeries Lafayette's 130-year festive history, the store is pulling out all the stops to create an immersive atmosphere. Walking under this giant Christmas tree is like stepping into a Parisian fairytale world. This space hosts continuous entertainment and dedicated shopping areas featuring luxury gifts, exclusive toys, and festive accessories. The intimate yet dazzling atmosphere captures the very essence of the Parisian art of living during the holiday season, revealing the timeless charm and generosity of French hospitality.
The Magical Ice Rink on the Rooftop with a View of Paris
For the first time this year, a unique experience has been added to Galeries Lafayette's festive program: a temporary ice rink installed on the department store's rooftop terrace. Dominating the Haussmannian rooftops of the 9th arrondissement, this enchanting location offers a breathtaking view of illuminated Paris and the sparkling Eiffel Tower. Skating above the City of Lights, with the Parisian skyline as your backdrop, creates an unforgettable, magical interlude, combining sport, relaxation, and wonder.
