Paris’s 9th arrondissement is one of the country’s densest areas for live performance. Just a few minutes on foot from the Hôtel R de Paris, three iconic venues stand side by side without ever feeling interchangeable: the Olympia, Théâtre Mogador and Folies Bergère. Pop and rock concerts, large-scale musicals, comedy, solo shows, dance — each has its own identity, capacity and audience. Here is how to choose.
The Olympia: the temple of live concerts (2,000 seats)
28 boulevard des Capucines, 75009 Paris — a 10-minute walk from the hotel
The Olympia is Paris’s concert hall par excellence. Opened in 1893, it hosted Édith Piaf, Jacques Brel and The Beatles, and still attracts major international names today. Its 2,000-seat capacity makes it a perfectly scaled venue for concerts — neither too large nor too small — with renowned acoustics and an atmosphere steeped in history.
In 2026, the programme mixes folk and rock concerts (Glen Hansard, Christopher Cross, Rodrigo y Gabriela), emerging artists, established French singers, comedy and solo shows. Some events are standing, others seated — check the layout before you book.
- Access: Opéra metro station (lines 3, 7, 8) or Havre-Caumartin (lines 3, 9) — 8 to 10 minutes on foot from the hotel

- Tip: tickets for major artists sell quickly — book as soon as dates are announced
Théâtre Mogador: Broadway in the 9th (1,618 seats)
25 rue de Mogador, 75009 Paris — a 12-minute walk from the hotel
Mogador is all about big musicals. Opened in 1919 on the model of the London Palladium and acquired by Stage Entertainment in 2005, it has become Paris’s Broadway-style theatre — the venue where The Lion King, Mamma Mia!, Grease and Sister Act have run for full seasons. With its 1,618 seats across three levels (stalls, dress circle and balcony), huge stage and six bars open from one hour before the show, it offers a full-scale theatre experience.
In 2026, The Lion King (season 3) runs until 28 June. The venue also hosts occasional dance and classical music events. Sightlines are good from every level — rows 4 to 7 offer a particularly balanced view of the stage.
- Access: Trinité-d'Estienne d'Orves metro station (line 12, 3-minute walk, accessible) or Havre-Caumartin (lines 3 and 9) — 12 minutes on foot from the hotel
- Ticket office: theatremogador.com
- Tip: arrive 1 hour before the show to enjoy the foyers and bars — the Art Nouveau interior is worth seeing
