July is the month when Paris seems to float. Many Parisians leave, but the city gains a different energy in return: visitors from around the world, open-air celebrations, concerts under the stars and major events that set the rhythm of the capital like no other month. July 2026 is especially distinctive, as France and the United States mark 250 years of Franco-American friendship, with a series of "America 250" events throughout the city. From Hôtel R de Paris, just steps from Saint-Lazare station, all of these highlights are easy to reach.
14 July 2026 — Bastille Day
France’s national holiday is one of the most spectacular dates of the year in Paris. On 14 July 2026, the day begins with the large military parade on the Champs-Élysées (from 10 am). The evening ends with the fireworks display launched from the Champ-de-Mars. Trocadéro remains the best viewpoint, while the Seine quays and the heights of Montmartre are popular alternatives. Plan to arrive very early if you want a prime spot. Throughout the day, free concerts take place across different neighbourhoods and fire station balls bring a festive atmosphere all over Paris.
Paris Plages and the Franco-American celebrations
Paris Plages opens at the beginning of July, turning the banks of the Seine into an urban summer resort until the end of August. Sand, deckchairs, sports activities and free entertainment line the riverside. In 2026, Paris Plages also kicks off the celebration of 250 years of Franco-American friendship, with 4 July 2026 as a major highlight, marking the 250th anniversary of American independence with themed events planned across the city.
The Tour de France — finish on 26 July
On Sunday 26 July 2026, Paris hosts the finish of the 21st and final stage of the Tour de France on the Champs-Élysées. It is a free and exceptional spectacle: riders sweep down the most famous avenue in Paris for the final sprint of the race. The atmosphere is festive, popular and highly international. The best spots require an early-morning arrival, and public transport is strongly recommended because many streets are closed to traffic.

In the hotel’s neighbourhood in July
In July, the area around Hôtel R de Paris takes on a distinctly summery atmosphere:
- Montmartre (10 minutes on foot) is at its best on summer evenings: the hill, Place du Tertre and the small surrounding streets stay lively until late, with beautiful views over Paris from the forecourt of Sacré-Cœur.
- The Grands Magasins (Galeries Lafayette and Printemps) are a 12-minute walk away, and their panoramic rooftops open in summer for sweeping views across Paris.
