The Musée du Quai Branly - Jacques Chirac is a journey around the world at the foot of the Eiffel Tower. Designed by Jean Nouvel, the building is fronted by an 800 m² living wall by Patrick Blanc — spectacular — and you reach the collections via a long suspended ramp "like a river you travel upstream." Inside, 3,500 exceptional works from Africa, Oceania, Asia and the Americas: masks, totems, textiles, ritual sculptures. The 18,000 m² garden designed by Gilles Clément is an unexpected haven of peace in this tourist-heavy neighbourhood.
Why go: Fascinating if you love world-cultures collections and a visually powerful journey.
Good to know: Allow plenty of time — the museum is rich, and the temporary exhibitions are often outstanding.

After five years of restoration involving 2,000 craftspeople and 700 million euros in donations, Notre-Dame reopened in December 2024 — and more than 11 million visitors flocked there in 2025. The 12th-century Gothic cathedral has reclaimed its splendour: restored vaults, cleaned stained-glass windows, and a spire rebuilt identically by Philippe Villeneuve. The visitor route has been completely redesigned, with free online ticketing and a multilingual mobile app.
Why go: A must-see landmark on any Paris itinerary.
Good to know: Nearby riverbanks are perfect for a walk before or after your visit.

The Musée Picasso is housed in the Hôtel Salé, a magnificent 17th-century mansion in the heart of the Marais. With over 5,000 works — paintings, sculptures, drawings, ceramics, prints — it is the most comprehensive collection in the world for traversing every period of Picasso, from the Blue Period to Cubism and Surrealism. What makes this place unique is also Picasso's personal collection: canvases by Matisse, Derain and Le Douanier Rousseau that he kept at home. In 2026, don't miss the immersive virtual-reality experience around Guernica.
Why go: One of the best art museums in Paris for modern art fans.
Good to know: Allow time for both permanent rooms and temporary exhibits.

The Musée de Cluny is a place unlike any other in the world: it brings together 2nd-century Gallo-Roman baths and a 15th-century private mansion, right in the heart of the Latin Quarter. The work that enchants me on every visit is the Lady and the Unicorn tapestry cycle: six Flemish tapestries woven around 1500, representing the five senses and a mysterious sixth panel, "À mon seul désir," whose meaning is still debated. Don't miss the frigidarium of the Roman baths either, with its 14-metre vault — the most important Gallo-Roman remains in Paris.
Why go: Perfect for medieval art lovers—an underrated Paris museum.
Good to know: Plan time for the highlights, especially the famous tapestries.

The Musée de l'Armée, at the heart of the Hôtel des Invalides, houses one of the world's largest military collections with over 500,000 objects. What is absolutely unmissable is Napoleon's tomb beneath the Dome: a red porphyry sarcophagus resting on a green Vosges granite base, in a strikingly solemn silence. Don't miss the Department of Arms and Ancient Armour either — the 3rd-largest collection in the world — where you discover the armour of the Kings of France from the 13th to the 17th century across 2,500 m² of exhibition space.
Why go: A solid history visit, especially if you love heritage and iconic landmarks.
Good to know: The site is vast — choose your priorities (collections, dome, exhibitions) based on your time.

The Musée du Luxembourg is the very first French museum to have opened to the public, in 1750, and it belongs to the Senate, which manages it. Set in a wing of the Palais du Luxembourg, it hosts two to three carefully curated temporary exhibitions per year, built around themes such as "the Renaissance in Europe," "Art and Power" or the heritage of the Gardens. What makes it pleasant is the intimate scale: you visit without getting lost, and naturally follow on with a stroll through one of the most beautiful gardens in Paris.
Why go: Ideal for combining culture + a garden stroll in Paris.
Good to know: Check the current exhibition programme before you go.

The Eiffel Tower offers far more than a simple panoramic view. On the first floor, walk across the transparent glass floor 57 metres above the ground — guaranteed thrills — and discover a 4.30-metre section of the original spiral staircase that Gustave Eiffel used to reach his office at the top. For a truly extraordinary experience, book a table at Le Jules Verne on the 2nd floor: the private lift and the cuisine of triple-starred chef Frédéric Anton make it an exceptional moment. At the summit, a champagne bar awaits.
Why go: Classic Paris experience and unbeatable skyline photos.

The Institut du Monde Arabe is an iconic Jean Nouvel building in the 5th arrondissement, and what captivates from the moment you arrive is the south facade: 240 motorised moucharabiehs in aeronautical aluminium that open and close automatically with the light, like a giant diaphragm — a spectacular marriage of Arab tradition and technology. Inside, the museum presents objects from the pre-Islamic era to the 20th century: ancient manuscripts, ceramics, textiles, contemporary works. Don't leave without heading up to the panoramic terrace: the view of Notre-Dame and the Seine is exceptional.
Why go: Strong exhibitions plus architecture—an excellent cultural stop in Paris.

The Panthéon is a grandiose neoclassical monument crowning the Montagne Sainte-Geneviève. What fascinates here is Foucault's Pendulum hanging beneath the dome: installed in 1851 with a 67-metre cable and a 28-kilo sphere, it demonstrates the Earth's rotation in real time — you find yourself mesmerised. In the crypt rest 76 great French figures: Victor Hugo, Marie Curie, Jean Moulin, Voltaire, Rousseau, Alexandre Dumas. The emotion is palpable before each tomb, accompanied by digital biographical panels.
Why go: A must for history lovers and one of the great landmarks in the Latin Quarter.
Good to know: Plan time to explore the crypt and the exhibitions when available.

Standing 210 metres tall — the highest skyscraper in the capital — Tour Montparnasse offers a 360-degree panorama with one unique advantage: the Eiffel Tower is right there in the view. Europe's fastest lift whisks you to the 56th floor in 38 seconds, and the open-air terrace on the 59th is perfect for catching a sunset. On a clear day, visibility stretches up to 40 km — you can even spot planes taking off from Orly.
Why go: Great photo spot for a "Paris skyline" moment.
Good to know: Sunset is popular; go earlier for calmer views.

The largest cemetery within Paris and the most visited in the world (3.5 million visitors a year), Pere Lachaise stretches over 43 hectares planted with 4,000 trees. You'll come across the graves of Jim Morrison, Oscar Wilde (beneath a winged sphinx), Chopin, Edith Piaf, Balzac, Colette, and 70,000 other burials — some of them genuine works of art. The hilly, shaded paths make for a truly unique stroll, somewhere between contemplation and living history.
Why go: A quiet, iconic Paris walk with real history.
Good to know: Bring a map to find the most famous tombs.

The Cité des Sciences is the largest science museum in Europe, in the heart of the Parc de la Villette. What makes it brilliant is the interactivity: you touch, you manipulate, you experiment. The permanent "Space Mission" exhibition plunges you into space exploration, the planetarium offers immersive journeys through the universe, and the Géode with its giant hemispherical screen is a unique cinematic experience. My advice: start with the planetarium at opening — sessions fill up quickly.
Why go: One of the best things to do in Paris with kids (or on a rainy day).
Good to know: Plan a few hours—the site is large and there's a lot to see.

The Fondation Louis Vuitton is a glass vessel designed by Frank Gehry: twelve translucent sails wrap around a white concrete "iceberg" hovering above a reflecting pool at the edge of the Bois de Boulogne. The building is a work of art in itself — 7,000 m² of curved surfaces that light transforms at every hour. What I love are the rooftop terraces: you stroll between the sails with a panoramic view across all of western Paris, and there's a permanent exhibition featuring the original model of the project by Gehry's Los Angeles team.
Why go: A top Paris art visit combining architecture + world-class shows.

The Grande Galerie de l'Évolution is a legendary venue nestled in the Jardin des Plantes. What takes your breath away is the central nave: 55 metres long, 30 metres high, bathed in natural light, with over 7,000 specimens. On the ground floor, the famous African caravan of 63 taxidermied animals — elephant at the head, followed by giraffes, zebras, lions — advances in a spectacular staging. The work that always impresses me is this silent procession beneath the glass canopy, as if frozen mid-crossing of the savannah.
Why go: A top family-friendly museum in Paris with impressive displays.
Good to know: Go early to enjoy the main hall with fewer people.

Twenty metres underground, in the former quarries of the Montrouge plain, lies the world's largest ossuary: the remains of several million Parisians, transferred here from 1786 onwards from the Saints-Innocents cemetery. The bones are arranged in meticulously assembled walls — facades of femurs and tibias alternating with rows of skulls — following the museographic staging designed by inspector Héricart de Thury in the 19th century. Allow around 90 minutes for the 1.5 km route.
Why go: If you're looking for something completely different from traditional museums, this is one of Paris's most striking experiences.
Good to know: Booking a timed slot is strongly recommended. Expect stairs and a cool temperature; best avoided if you're claustrophobic.
